Segregation in shallow vibrated beds

Binary mass systems snapshots

Video showing the complete process of segregation:

Snapshots of the segregation process of a binary mass mixture. Blue particles have 10 times more mass than red particles.

N = 1500, 40x40 particle diameters. Snapshots for 500, 50000, 500000, and 50000000 box oscillation cycles.

Low-frequency oscillations

This is a video abstract made for the New Journal of Physics journal, where we explained the phenomena of low-frequency oscillations in a vertically vibrated column of grains.

Here you can see the official version, next to the paper. NJP is an open access journal!

Made August 2013 by myself.
